Drexel's 2015 Udall Honorable Mention Recipient

Congratulations to this year’s Honorable Mention recipient for the Udall Scholarship, Alexander McBride.
Alexander McBride (Materials Science and Engineering, ’17, Honors) began working at Drexel in 10th Grade with Dr. Caroline Schauer on organic photovoltaics. Alex is interested in studying light-electrochemical interactions, and developing technology to transition away from carbon fuel combustion power generation and storage. Through the iSTAR program he conducted research in Germany in 2013, and in 2014 he worked at the University of Oulu in Finland as a Paul Peck Scholar. He is currently working with Dr. Yury Gogotsi, and is interested in developing technologies with immediate application potential.
The Udall Scholarship awards 50 scholarships of up to $5000 and 50 honorable mentions to sophomore and junior level college students committed to careers related to the environment, tribal public policy, or Native American health care. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics.
